Does your venue Support the Support?

When it comes to promoting support acts at gigs, one of the most important things that venues can do is to publish the lineup and stage times well in advance. This is something that I recently noticed was lacking at a venue I visited. They had a poster for “Support the Support,” but they didn’t advertise stage times for any of the support acts on social media or posters. This made it difficult for fans to plan their evening and make the most of their experience.

When tickets only have door times and the main act doesn’t take the stage for two hours after doors open, it’s important for fans to know who the support acts are and what time they’re on in advance. This way, they can plan to see the support acts around work and eating after work.

Here are some ways that venues can effectively publish support act information and stage times:

1. Include support acts and stage times on the event page: When creating an event page for a gig, venues should make sure to include the full lineup, including all of the support acts, and stage times for each act.

2. Share the lineup and stage times on social media: In addition to including the lineup and stage times on the event page, venues should also share this information on their social media channels. This will help to ensure that as many people as possible see it and can plan accordingly.

3. Send a reminder email to ticket holders: Venues can send a reminder email to ticket holders a few days before the gig, including the lineup and stage times. This will help to ensure that everyone has the most up-to-date information and can plan their evening accordingly.

4. Include the lineup and stage times on the ticket: Venues can include the lineup and stage times on the ticket itself. This will ensure that fans have all of the information they need, even if they don’t have access to the internet.

5. Update the lineup and stage times in real-time: If there are any changes to the lineup or stage times, venues should make sure to update the event page, social media channels, and any other relevant platforms as soon as possible. This will help to ensure that fans have the most accurate information and can plan their evening accordingly.

By publishing the lineup and stage times well in advance, venues can help to create a smooth and enjoyable experience for both the fans and the support acts. This not only shows respect for the support acts, but it also helps to build a positive reputation for the venue and encourages fans to return in the future.
