Because music matters…

Labyrinth in Concert comes to Nottingham

There are some films you don’t just watch, you grow up with them. And Labyrinth is firmly in that category. Now, as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations, Nottingham gets the chance to experience it in a completely different way. On Saturday 25th April, Labyrinth in Concert arrives at the Royal Concert Hall.

This is a full scale live performance where the film plays on a big screen while a live band performs the soundtrack in perfect sync. That means every moment, from the eerie opening to the chaos of Goblin City, hits with a different kind of energy, something far bigger than a standard cinema experience.

At the centre of it all is David Bowie as Jareth, the Goblin King, all charisma, mischief, and theatrical flair. His songs don’t just sit alongside the story, they drive it, and hearing them performed live gives them a new edge that’s hard to replicate anywhere else.

But it’s not just about the music. The world itself still feels completely unique, thanks to the imagination of Jim Henson. The strange creatures, the handmade charm, the dreamlike twists of the maze all come alive again on the big screen, amplified by the atmosphere of a live audience.

And that crowd matters. This is a film people carry with them, and when those moments land, you feel it across the room. It turns into something closer to a shared celebration than a simple screening.

Tickets are on sale now via the Royal Concert Hall box office and official website, with prices typically starting from around £30 depending on seating. Demand is expected to be strong, so booking in advance is recommended.

If you’re looking for something that blends nostalgia with a genuine live event experience, Saturday night in Nottingham might just belong to the Goblin King.
