“Shiiine On as a festival didn’t just try to meet expectations but went above and beyond to deliver in all categories: from the artists booked, the great sound and stage systems to the restaurants, site and security staff. Each and every one of you is a rock star and we thank you all. Glastonbury pfft you can keep it.” – Louder Than War

Shiiine On Weekender announce its latest line-up additions to the 2016 edition of the hugely popular festival. Following the sell-out success of the Shiiine On Weekender 2015, still the only festival to showcase the best of indie and dance music alongside the best up and coming new bands, has added further quality to its already packed line-up…

First up is a festival exclusive with a debut performance of Love & The Family Tree, the new project of Happy Mondays drummer and original member, Gary Whelan and Mondays band mate Rowetta on vocals.

Fusing hip hop, funk and dance-grooves to create a dolorous sound, the band’s inaugural appearance promises to be a festival highlight. Additionally, Gaz & Rowetta will be staying on site to perform a very rare Happy Mondays DJ set twisting your melons and calling the cops.

We are also delighted to announce that electronic and breakbeat pioneers The Freestylers will also be making a rare live appearance. An electronica group from Coventry, England who formed in 1996, the band have released five studio albums, six DJ mixes and remain one of the premier breakbeat acts.
With a claim to being one of the first ever electronica supergroups, the trio (Matt Cantor, Aston Harvey and Andrew Galea) were already acclaimed DJs and producers from Britain’s booming late 80s dance music scene before joining forces in 1996 to form The Freestylers. Debut release ‘Drop The Bomb (AK-48)’ was a dancefloor hit on both sides of the Atlantic with their 1998 album ‘We Rock Hard’ and its lead single ‘B-Boy Stance’ achieving further global recognition.

Liverpool’s psychedelic folk quintet The Sundowners will also be performing at Shiiine 2016. Having released their superb self-titled début album earlier this year the band join the growing bill of exciting new talent bringing a formidable live reputation augmented by recent support slots for Paul Weller and The Coral.
Also joining the bill are Crewe’s favourite sons, The Train Set. This cult band (name checked by Noel Gallagher) built a huge underground following in the late 80’s going on to support James, My Bloody Valentine and Happy Mondays on the ‘Bummed’ tour. Signed to Playhard Records in Manchester (Dave Haslam and Nathan McGough’s imprint) they released their first single ‘She’s Gone’ which was (future Loaded leader) James Brown of the New Musical Express’s ‘Single of the week’ in 1988 with the single receiving further positive press in all the music inkies.
