YEALLOW – The Void/Blown Away

Somewhere in the midst between Coldplay’s ‘Yellow’ and U2’s ‘With or Without You’ are Français rockers YEALLOW with their new single ‘Blown Away’.

Blown Away with their enticing guitar riffs, the Strasbourgian quartet certainly sound the part. With say-day (we think that’s the pronunciation) sales success already abroad, the rockers say their aim is to reach an international audience of indie fans. What’s more, the ‘Blown Away’ video proves they look the part too; bustling Camden may just have to become their second home. They only really got going in 2010, yet they’ve already conquered (like any true Frenchies) Liverpool’s Cavern Club, where the UK tour went down a storm, as well as the popular French Festival of Artefacts 2010. With an associate of Coldplay and Johnny Cash in the background, Jay Franco, the rockers are heading places.

‘Blown Away’ dives right into the deep-end with lead guitarist Monsieur T’s intensely infectious electro-fying rhythms. And with lead vocalist Fred’s accent intact, the YEALLOW signature sound is certainly recognisably memorable in comparison to the rift of British in the UK indie charts today. First track of the single ‘The Void’ ominously kicks off feeling like a house track within the initial seconds of drum and bass. Once the pace picks up and new layers of instrumental are supplemented, there’s even more ominous and underground, sounding something like MUSE’s ‘Supermassive Black Hole’, track title similarities included. Although not as ‘’out there’’ as ‘Blown Away’, ‘The Void’ possesses an ongoing eminence of evolving genre changes and awakening keeping listener sustained throughout.

Instrumentals particularly promising, YEALLOW’s new single carries the listener into a realm of psychedelia – with tracks certainly easy to imagine at their pinnacle during live performances and their pledge for a new album in 2012, we can only anticipate even more energy from these rockers.
