The premier of Britpop Classical will be the opening act on Saturday 1st September at Cool Britannia Festival.Britpop Classical features a full rock back of some of the country’s best session musicians together with an amazing horns section and orchestra, all backing a spectacular array of vocalists including The Farm’s Peter Hooton performing All Together Now, Saffron from Republica with Ready To Go, Heaven 17’s Glenn Gregory covering Pulp’s Common People and justadded – the unique Phil Daniels (Quadrophenia, EastEnders) will close the set with Blur’s Parklife. Guaranteed to be a festival highlight! Maxi Jazz of Faithless has been confirmed for a personal DJ set on the Main Stage at Cool Britannia Festival on Sunday 2nd September. Cool Britannia will host the unique ‘Dr Haze’s Freak Show – Featuring Acts From The Infamous Circus of Horrors’. Audiences can get their chills and thrills from an array of acts – including sword swallowers, contortionist, acrobats, knife throwers, a strong man and many more. The performance will be held in the unique Carters Steam Fair Grand Palace of Entertainment and will be open at the Friday Night Welcome Party, as well as both Saturday and Sunday across the weekend. ‘Dr Haze’s Freak Show – Featuring Acts From The Infamous Circus of Horrors’ is the only circus to ever reach the finals of Britain’s Got Talent and has appeared on TV shows such as The Slammer, Daybreak, This Morning and The One Show. The unique circus – performed to live rock music – is the only circus to have a run at a West End Theatre for 100 years and is currently on a nationwide tour. The Main Stage will be headlined by Happy Mondays and Ocean Colour Scene — with amazing supporting artists including Feeder, Razorlight, Embrace, The Lightning Seeds, Peter Hook & The Light, Cast, Heather Small, Dodgy, Space, Toploader and The South & more still to be announced. The festival will also see the premier of ‘Britpop Classical’ which will feature a full orchestra together with rock band and guest soloists including The Farm’s Peter Hooton, Republica’s Saffron and Heaven 17’s Glenn Gregory, with others to be announced, performing unique versions of Britpop classics. Cool Britannia has also teamed up with the legendary Ministry of Sound. Housed in the Big Top, they will feature some of the best club DJs of the era including Todd Terry, Brandon Block, Jazzie B and Alfredo. Each night there will be appearances by a host of club classic stars including Black Box, N-Trance, Rozalla, Alison Limerick, Angie Brown and Urban Cookie Collective.
