Veronika Vesper Bleeding Desert

Bleeding Desert‘ is the first offering I have heard from atmospheric pop vixen Veronika Vesper and watching the video Im finding that Veronika is a very interesting character indeed.

The ethereal chant that holds the song together, is accompanied by a strong electro beat that on occasion during this visual feast reminds me of the music of Depeche Mode during their darker moments.  Her vocals are mesmerising and at times haunting and although chilling, it strangely leaves a chilled out vibe.  But then I’m guessing that’s what Veronika is all about.  Expect the unexpected.

The accompanying video also raises as many questions as it answers – Just what is going on? And why is the Kat Von D look-a-like running round with no clothes on? It’s true that I haven’t a clue what is going on but it matters not, as somehow that seems to  suit the record just fine and makes it more like performance art than a pop video, which to my mind just sets it apart from the rest of the pack.

First listen over with, and this taster has been both intriguing and delightful.  I certainly can’t wait to hear more.
