An object of shame and pride; inspiring laughter and fear; a symbol of power, yet incredibly fragile; it creates life, it can condemn us to death… and it can do wees too. For his 25th anniversary Fringe, Herring updates the hit show that exposes the truth about the porridge gun. “Man’s answer to the Vagina Monologues” Guardian. “An impassioned and thoughtful disquisition on masculinity.” Observer “His Cock is as funny and fascinating for women as it is for men. I loved it. I only wished it could have been longer” Scotsman Richard Herring is one of the UK’s most prolific comedians and a phenomenal writer. He’s also a very busy man. In the last year alone he’s taken the Edinburgh Festival by storm with his new show ‘What Is Love, Anyway?’ and then taken the same show on a nationwide tour. But that was only shortly after he finished touring the country with his critically acclaimed show, ‘Christ on a Bike: The Second Coming’ and wrapped the latest season of his award winning, Sony-nominated audio podcast and sketch show ‘As It Occurs To Me’. His new book ‘How Not To Grow Up’ was also published and he released his second DVD, ‘Christ On A Bike’, following last year’s release of ‘Hitler Moustache’. And he also wrote and performed a second series of his Radio 4 series, ‘Richard Herring’s Objective’. Like we said, busy. Recent TV appearances include ‘Have I Got News For You’ (BBC One), ‘Argumental’ (Dave), and ‘Never Mind the Buzzcocks’ (BBC2). He has co-hosted the Saturday breakfast show on 6Music with Andrew Collins and they continue to record their weekly Collins and Herring Podcast on a laptop in Rich’s attic, getting up to 50,000 downloads per episode. Richard’s blog ‘Warming’ Up has gained a cult following since he began writing it in November 2002 and has written an entry for every single day, well over 3000 consecutive entries. He’s got plenty of form too. As one half of the prolific comedy duo Lee & Herring, Richard enjoyed phenomenal cult success as a writer and performer including ‘Fist of Fun’ (BBC Radio 1, BBC Two) and ‘This Morning with Richard Not Judy’ (BBC Two). And with Al Murray, Richard devised and wrote 37 episodes of the sitcom ‘Time Gentlemen Please’ (Sky One/Paramount) for Al’s alter ego The Pub Landlord. If we haven’t persuaded you by now that you should buy a ticket to see this man you should know he’s also one of our favourite acts, a Glee regular and that rare comedic combination – a very fun man who will keep your grey cells fizzing.
