Elijah James-Nobody Important review

Liverpoolian singer/songwriter Elijah James has completed and released his debut album Nobody Important, and what an unbelievably wonderful album it is. This acoustic jewel is one to be treasured as it is rare for an artist to produce such fantastic solo work so early on.

James opens Nobody Important with easy-going track Becoming Me keeping the tone and the tempo smooth; Becoming Me is a beautiful reflecting complexion-mentioning growing up and developing relationships. A particular personal favourite line of mine is “thank you for loving me until the end, I suppose.” James has nailed the connection that a song should form with the listener-forming a personal relation to the song is an element that a track needs to become favoured and James has managed exactly that.

James has been gigging around Liverpool for the last four years-he was once part of a pop-punk band! The transition he’s made from pop-punk to acoustic is unfaultable-you wouldn’t even guess! James also won the Acoustic Hunger Games held at The Zanzibar giving him the opportunity to record a studio album at Parr Street Studios.

The debut consists of 12 tracks, each with their own unique lyrical ideology and tone. James’ voice is so compelling that upon frequent listening I would fear addiction-with a slight husky edge there is no better match for his acoustic brilliance. Elijah James is set to go far and I would wish a successful and prodigious career upon him as I’m sure he will exceed.
