Watchers absolutely blew my head off …they had original and experimental music
– Barry Hyde, The Futureheads
My favourite act of the day [Friends of Manchester Festival]
– Ben Blackburn; Crack in the Road magazine
Since touring with The Charlatans in 2011 and supporting the likes of The Vaccines, Clock Opera, Islet, and S.C.U.M. Watchers have been gaining recognition as one of the best emerging bands in the north east of England. On October 8th, they will release their debut double A-side single, Cut The Ribbon / Every Night I Look Strong, produced by Danton Supple (Morrissey, U2, Coldplay, Doves).
Watchers’ music and style have been described in various forms from energetic psychedelia, to the sound of early 80s Indie. Cut The Ribbon calls to mind the emotive howl of Echo & The Bunnymen’s Ian McCulloch, backed by chiming guitars and imaginative riffing, while Every Night I Look Strong by comparison is a much breezier affair, vocalist Liam Milne sweeps through classic pop melodies.
