CHARLIE INDESTRUCTIBLE album review ‘This City Needs a Hero’

The debut album from CHARLIE INDESTRUCTIBLE, hailing from Luton, is a piece of audial smack down, an album that will tenderise the eardrums of all those who give it the chance to.

The first single ‘I’m The F**king Guv’nor’ is their stamp of intention: a mark of what this band really excels at. This is the creation of sonic chaos on a level that you don’t hear in the majority of music, and CHARLIE INDESTRUCTIBLE do it with style and flare. With a vocal style that is clear yet angst ridden, Mark Sowden constructs a melody capable of rousing any crowd to bellow in time. Throughout the album as a whole, the unchecked aggression of the front man shows through his fearless melodies which are accompanied by the lively roars and chants of the rest of the band.

The third track on the album, entitled ‘The Stalker and The King’, is punchy and succinct, and demonstrates a bold production style that takes advantage of the sounds on offer. With foot stomping riffs throughout it really showcases the playing styles of the two guitarists Jon Morris and Greg Niedzwiecki.

The album as a whole has a real sense of flow and is a true mission statement of what this band can do, which is brave for the first full release.  Not overly heavy and never disjointed or clunky, CHARLIE INDESTRUCTIBLE produce a sound that can be easily appreciated. With their mantra of ‘We’ll give the audience every bit of blood, sweat and energy we have. And then we’ll give some more’, you will want to hear more from this five man tornado and I hope they don’t blow out with this first release.
