Kartica, formed in May 2008, are a five-piece indie band from Sheffield. Having built up a following in their home town, Kartica released their debut single Don’t You Think So in April and have been gaining a good reputation following shows at Sheffield’s O2 Academy and supporting bands like the Twang and ex Little Man Tate front man Jon Windle.

 Don’t You Think So is a fresh sound but with that feeling of classic indie.  A catchy rhythm and infectious tune, it’s anthem style and captures the charm of a band who enjoys making likeable music.

 It’s clear to hear the influence of Ocean Colour Scene, CAST and even Oasis in the composition. Driving beats and rugged guitar riffs make this a standout track with lead singer Matt Hook’s soft voice, imperfect and perfect all at once.

 Don’t You Think So sits comfortably as an already popular piece of music, a summer track but with enough about it to last longer than our sun usually does.

 The melodic sounds of the rhythm guitar coupled with the energy of the drum beat dive the track onwards; it’s a delight to listen to and live would create the perfect atmosphere for the start or end of a gig.

 It’ll be interesting to hear more of what Kartica have to offer; if it’s anything like this debut, indie fans are in for an exhilarating musical experience.
