The Fallows; indie/rock ‘n’ roll band hailing from Ellesmere Port on the Wirral. Formed in 2010 the band has built up a strong set and cult following, evolving by writing more diverse melodies and constructing better music as they go.

“We all met by chance really at a house party…” said Gavin from the band in a recent interview, “…the acoustic guitars came out and we kind of agreed that night to start The Fallows. We have been lucky enough to have been heavily featured on BBC Merseyside and we’re part of a great Liverpool music scene at the moment.”

Indeed they are. Some would say that Liverpool, arguably the most influential melting pot for British music over the past 50 years, is bubbling once more. With the band releasing their third single, ‘Shoot Your Gun’ earlier this year, The Fallows are starting to build momentum.

“We had a 1000 people last week in Liverpool’s O2 Academy, and we will hopefully be playing in front of 10,000 over the summer festivals”.

With influences such as The Smiths, The La’s, Oasis and The Verve they are devoted disciples of well crafted indie rock in the best of the North West tradition.  Take ‘Better From the Outside’, and you see the simple power of a great song, stripped to its bare essentials –

Chugging acoustic guitar, plonking bass and a haunting vocal, full of sentiment and melancholy, piercing over it. Contrast that with the aforementioned ‘Shoot Your Gun’ (available on Itunes) with its trance-like vocal, rolling bass, menacing guitar lick and drums that simply can’t wait to burst into life. This is sure to be an absolute certainty to start a crowd pogoing on the spot; it shows that with their music, The Fallows can provoke many emotions – and there’s more. They have a plethora of crowd pleasing stomp-a-longs like ‘Take My Little Heart’, ‘Here It Comes’ and ‘Lazy Eye’, that will see them soar as they emerge on the festival scene.

With mainstream music on its knees, at the mercy of uninspiring, unoriginal teen stars and bubblegum pop, we turn to the indie scene once more for help. The Fallows show that there are bands out there who can write and perform music with the belief and conviction that a good song can part seas. And with Britpop becoming a fading, nostalgic memory and the bands of the 00’s unable to fulfill their promise, maybe we’re on the verge of a new scene, something truly independent and long lasting…

…with The Fallows at the front?
