Mold Colony Music Reviews by Editor - May 9, 20120 You know, there aren’t many bands/artists that can get away with the phrase – I’d get more understanding from a cosmic babboon! but somehow Mold Colony manage it – and I have a feeling more craziness is yet to come. I am literally writing this as I hear the tracks for the first time, something I am not wont to do on a regular basis as it can be unfair; some artists are growers – you have to listen to them a few times to ‘get them’. Mold Colony, on the other hand, are different. If I don’t write as I go I wouldn’t trust my memory, I wouldn’t believe what I’d just heard! Space Monkey is reminisicent of the Bare Naked Ladies, you know, when they were good. It is a very succinctly put rebellion against modern corporate life – one I think many listeners can relate to. There isn’t much I can say, dear reader, you will think I am making it all up. Mold Colony will blow your mind! If you like the Big Bang Theory then I think you will like these – especially Crunch! If Mold come to the UK, I will be there in the front row! These are a band for those who refuse to grow up. Who are Mold Colony? Something’s been growing in the dark, dank rainforests of Canada’s west coast. Indie-rock fused with funk, celtic and progressive grooves. Eclectic and often outrageous. Sweet, sour and satirical. More fun than furry bread Mold Colony will grow on you. The Victoria, BC-based band’s debut CD titled The Experiment Is Out Of Control contains 12 original compositions. The music spans the diverse influences of the four musicians, with lyrics often laced with an eccentric sense of humor. The result is energetic and entertaining with a personality that is uniquely Mold Colony. Ben Denslow lead vocals Kel rhythm and lead guitars keyboards, b. vocals Pete Nielsen bass, guitars, b. vocals T. W. Tobin drums, percussion, keyboards, b. vocals, production, engineering
