Wroot Rocks has never done anything quite like this. On Friday 4th July 2025, something beautifully bold sets sail: Folk on the Water is a brand new riverboat concert experience cruising through the heart of Sprotbrough on the historic Wyre Lady, and it promises to be one of the most intimate, atmospheric gigs of the summer.
With a capacity of just 60 people, this is as exclusive as live music gets. Setting off at 7pm sharp from Nursery Lane, the boat drifts gently through three golden hours of music, bar vibes, and dusky canal light before docking back at the Boat Inn Pub by 10pm. But it’s not just the setting that’s special, it’s the music.

Folk favourite Nick Parker is on board for the whole journey, playing two sets during the cruise. Anyone who’s seen Nick live knows he brings not only songs that stick in your soul, but a generous, funny, and heartfelt presence that turns every gig into a gathering of friends. His stories and lyrics feel right at home among sunsets, cider and river breeze, and here, he’ll be playing just feet from you.
Whether you’re a longtime fan or discovering him for the first time, hearing Nick perform aboard the Wyre Lady will be something to remember. There’s no stage. No barrier. Just music, open air, and the hum of water underfoot.

This is the first floating show from Wroot Rocks and they’ve pulled it off with style. With a full bar on board and panoramic views of the Doncaster countryside, this floating gig is part folk concert, part adventure. The Wyre Lady herself is a striking blue and white beauty, and watching the sky change colour with a drink in hand while Nick sings will be as close to magic as July gets.
