Because music matters…

Supergrass at Rock City, Nottingham – 19 May 2025

Supergrass turned Rock City into a Britpop time machine on 19 May, celebrating 30 years of their debut album I Should Coco with a performance that was pure, unfiltered joy. From the moment they launched into the chaotic opener “I’d Like to Know,” the energy was electric. The crowd, a mix of longtime fans and new admirers, sang along to every word, especially during the anthemic “Alright,” which had the entire venue bouncing in unison.

The band played I Should Coco in its entirety, each track delivered with the same youthful exuberance that made them stand out in the ’90s. “Caught by the Fuzz” and “Mansize Rooster” were particularly raucous, while “Time to Go” provided a brief, sweet interlude before they dove into hits like “Richard III” and “Pumping on Your Stereo.”

Gaz Coombes was in fine form, his vocals effortlessly shifting from cheeky to snarling, and the band’s tight musicianship kept the energy high throughout the night. The encore, featuring “Sun Hits the Sky” and “Pumping on Your Stereo,” left the audience exhilarated and craving more.

Supergrass proved that their music is as vital and infectious as ever, delivering a night of nostalgia and pure rock ‘n’ roll energy that will be remembered for years to come.
