Lyric Lounge Talks to Gaz from Bad Milk Blood Robot Music Features by Editor - October 2, 2024October 2, 20240 So, it is clear to see as we sit here on the last evening of September, watching yet more torrential rain, that Summer is clearly over but that is okay because Both Eyes Open have some storming gigs coming up at The Old Cold Store. October gets off to a flying start with Bad Milk Blood Robot, who are here to tell us a little bit more about why we should get ourselves down to the gig this weekend. Firstly, though, what were your highlights this Summer and what are you looking forward to as we make our way to 2025? So this summer has been great, we released the final single from our first album and followed it by dropping the album. We have built a following that we lovingly refer to as the Herd and it has been great seeing how a lot of our Herd has thrown themselves into our gigs and we did a video shoot and bunch of interviews for our socials which were also really fun. We also played some great gigs including Tuckstock at The Tap n Tumbler which was loads of fun. Next year we will be launching our second album which we go into the studio to record next month and already have several really exciting gigs and festivals in the diary so hopefully more exposure and build The Herd! The Herd sound very cool. One of the things I love about the grassroots music scene is how much the fans get behind supporting the bands and making the gigs social gatherings for like-minded music fans. What kind of musical influences would you say might indicate that someone would want to become part of The Herd? Tell us a bit more about your psychedelic, progressive post-grunge sound and what to expect from a live Bad Milk Blood Robot gig . Our field has no fences and anyone can join the Herd. The members of Bad Milk Blood Robot are all from various musical backgrounds ranging from metal to dance music, punk to ska to stoner rock and we mix a whole big old music box together! If you come to a show you will experience a consistently moving emotional ride through genres played at full throttle and with members throwing themselves about. We all have a punk DIY attitude to the live gigs and like to get up, close and personal with members of The Herd. You also get a cow mask (if you want). Have The Herd started to sing along with the lyrics too? Or pointing at Jack The Lads and Jimmy Darlings in the crowd, but presumably not any Mauds because she definitely wouldn’t appreciate a cow mask? Have you noticed particular songs that you now have to include in the set because they get the crowd going? We have had people singing along to some. Manners Cost Everything regularly gets the Jimmy Darlings shouting the chorus back at us and our latest single Breakdown often ends with whole sections of the Herd screaming ‘We all breakdown’ whilst rolling on the dancefloor with Gaz. I mean, it sounds like the best way to experience your set is to get on down to a gig, especially when you are playing some great Nottingham venues like The Old Cold Store but I’m assuming you have all the usual socials where people can also check out what you will be up to in the future. Yeah you can find us on all the socials, we even have bloody TikTok, though that is for The Herd more than the band. You can buy our album on our Bandcamp!
