Sister Act – Nottingham Theatre Royal 16.9.24 – 21.9.24 Review Music News Theatre by Editor - September 17, 2024September 24, 20240 I had the absolute pleasure of watching Sister Act at Nottingham Theatre Royal earlier this week, and it was nothing short of a fantastic experience. From the moment the curtain rose, the show was bursting with energy, humor, and heartwarming moments. Landi Oshinowo, in the role of Deloris Van Cartier, was simply outstanding. Her powerful voice and infectious enthusiasm lit up the stage, effortlessly bringing the character to life. She had big shoes to fill, but she stepped into the role with such ease and charm that it felt completely her own. The dynamic between Oshinowo and Wendi Peters, who played Mother Superior, was one of the show’s highlights. Their witty exchanges and contrasting personalities created some of the funniest and most touching moments of the evening. I also have to mention Alfie Parker’s Eddie Souther—his rendition of “I Could Be That Guy” was a crowd favorite, and his playful costume change had everyone laughing. The music was another standout. From uplifting ensemble numbers to more emotional solos, every song was delivered with passion and skill. Eloise Runnette, as Sister Mary Robert, gave a particularly moving performance of “The Life I Never Led,” which was one of the most heartfelt moments of the night. Visually, the production was stunning. The costumes, especially in the finale, were dazzling and added an extra layer of fun to the performance. The entire cast, dressed in sparkling, colorful outfits, brought the show to a high-energy conclusion that left the audience cheering. Overall, Sister Act at Nottingham Theatre Royal is a feel-good show packed with great music, lots of laughs, and some truly memorable performances. It’s a perfect night out and one that left me smiling long after I left the theatre.
