Skinny Lister, Rock City, 16/11/15 Tanya Russell

To a ground shaking pounding of a drum, Skinny Lister stride onto the stage and with a twirling double bass perform a thundering rendition of RAISE THE WRECK.

Continuing with the musical mayhem of melodic sea shanties and accordion layered energetic loveliness, Skinny Lister have the audience captivated by their high octane joyful anthems.

COLOURS is a beautiful anthem to British summer time and echoes with a folk tinged tune of emotive power and elegance, as always with Skinny Lister performed with absolute sincerity and passionate power.

Enthusiastically dancing along to the racing rhythm of the next song, the band and the crowd prove conclusively the infectious dance inducing fantastic quality of their tunes.

THIS IS WAR is performed with a vibrant and compelling ferocity of powerful strength on this day.
The concert continues with double bass balancing antics and a delirious crowd singing along to too rye ay.

The whole crowd is then clapping along and stomping their feet to the crazy beat of ROLLIN’ OVER until the swaying lurching lullaby of SEVENTEEN SUMMERS is played with artistic abandon alongside the truly remarkable sight of a crowd surfing double bassist, complete with his very large instrument!

BOLD AS BRASS is a whirlwind of a tempestuous tempo that is performed with the vigour that defines Skinny Lister’s performance.

A crowd photo precedes the reeling rhythm of that ends the set with a ecstatic chanting across the crowd and Lorna Thomas balancing in hugely high heels to the happy cheers of an appreciative crowd. Yeah…Skinny Lister are as totally awesome as I remember them being!
