‘Deafkid’ unveil their hottest new single ‘Rosary’- Not to be Missed! Music Reviews by Editor - November 13, 2014November 13, 20140 After another long week of running away from the ‘mundane’, and hating life even more than the last time you checked it, that special Sunday crosses over with all its glories and chases away those pre-Monday blues with pockets full of new music that turns your world the right way up. We all love Sundays despite it bordering on the worst day of the week. And I especially love Sundays because it’s the one day I get to sit back, relax and gorge my heart out on an enormous buffet of sizzling flavoursome music and then tell all you awesome people all about it, so that you can shift them lazy bones out of bed, gather the whole family, and have yourselves the best patch of singles which you can straight-up enjoy. There’s a lot of good stuff you’ll be able to get your hand on this week, with the help of some my fellow lyric loungers, but as for me there is this one track ‘Rosary’ by the talented ghost poets called ‘Deafkid’ which blew my mind in catastrophic proportions, and I can massively assure you that by the time I’m done telling you about them, you’ll want a bit of that magic, too, happening to you! The devilishly haunting single stretches to nearly a full four minutes, which takes off with an vocal intro and a stripped-back moody opening that gradually submerges in effortless surfs of a mishmash of rich instrumentation and an almost curiously child-like rhymes, which do a wonderful job of capturing the passage of time. The piece is an investigation of creativity and imagination in music and emotion and you’ll find that sentiment with the smooth drop of each and every beat. For me, the shimmering tempo moves like a soft wave in the sea, raising higher with the pull of the wind, and then slowly steadying its spirits like a vessel awakening to the morning air; truly mesmerising. The Manchester duo Deafkid was launched last year with thier album ‘Vigilante’ for which they earned mass critical acclaim gaining press support in the UK from NME and Clash and got picked up by Zane Lowe for his next hype record. The pair have now kicked off with their second four-track short-length album single ‘Dialects’ produced by Kristopher Harris (Smoke Faeries, Bear’s Den) and mastered by Matt Coulton (Kanye West, James Blake). If you’re looking for some of that groovy blending of influential sounds with a left-field pop allure, Deafkid definitely the guys to watch out for. In my opinion, it’s a track that shouldn’t go unheard, so a word from the wise-pick up a copy and get listening folks! https://soundcloud.com/deafkid/sets/dialects-ep-1/s-wKcLz A.Aali
