Honeycomb Love ‘Bad Taste in Women’ Review

Leed’s dirty-sleaze-rock-punk band Honeycomb Love formed in 2008 by Matt Hipkiss (Guitar) and Ollie Lewis (Bass/Vocals). Releasing their debut E.P. ‘HCL Style’ in 2009 the group went on to see a new addition to their line-up in 2012 with Shaun Marsh on drums.

In order to sum up the band’s sound, a fair starting point would certainly include the terms 80’s-rock ‘n’ roll-sleaze-punk.

The band’s new track ‘Bad Taste in Women’ has a classic 80’s guitar tone and with the accompanying riff and fast punk drums, the song instantly hits you in the face like a slap from a cheap dollar hooker. Ollie Lewis’s larey vocals immediately transport me back to my youth, skin tight jeans, big hair and an attitude more immense than any Jon Bon Jovi impersonators wig.  The song has an infectious quality that simultaneously has me head banging and shouting out to the chorus line “bad taste in women”.  Needless to say, my decision to listen to the song during Sunday morning church was not one of my better ideas.

If you’re lacking on one of your sleaze-rock 5 a day fixes, be sure to swallow down a dose of Honeycomb love’s ‘Bad Taste in Women’. However known side effects might include a desire for tight jeans, big hair and guyliner.

‘Bad Taste In Women’ is scheduled to be released in early 2013
