Space bar Love – Amber Ojeda – Review

Amber Ojeda succinctly describes herself as vintage whilst having a modern flare. Her music is an amalgamation of jazz, soul and hip hop influences. 2010 saw her debut Album ‘Here I Am’ realised which has just been followed up more recently in 2012 with “Space Bar Love“.
Space Bar Love” consists of thirteen tracks, which from beginning to end are packed full of what we would expect to hear from Amber Ojeda, a jazz soul hip hop fusion.
The vocal vibe has in abundance a laid back and sultry feeling  which instantly transports me to the classic London jazz bars of the 1930’s and 40’s. The music as if smoke, floats into my ears and commands me to sit back, close my eyes and just relax. In stark contrast to these very chilled-out vibes, are songs that include guest hip hop vocals and frequent contemporary arrangements that also bring an undoubted fashionable quality to the album.
Throughout “Space Bar LoveAmber Ojeda sounds extremely confident in her own ability and her vocals have tiny reflections within them of artists such as Lily Allen and Kate Nash.
Recommended tracks to check out would certainly be “Siamese”, “Stale Smoke” and “Never be Her”.
Overall the album is certainly a fun filled affair and would be the perfect accompaniment to any hot summer’s day.
You can currently check out Amber Ojeda on Bravo’s emerging singer songwriter competition series “Platinum Hit“.
