The ‘Convalescence E.P.’ was released by 7 Horns 7 Eyes last year as a first taste of the forthcoming album ‘Throes of Absolution’. The Seattle Technical Death Metal merchants will release the album across Europe on April 23^rd through Basick Records. If this first taste of the album is anything to go by, it’s gonna pack quite a punch.

Death style vocals and Doom ridden music are dominant throughout the record. 7 Horns… are far from one-trick ponies though. The third track ‘Winnowing’ is a big heavy slab of death metal. Full of atmosphere, it has a crushing sound even before the death barks from vocalist Shiv. Carefully intertwined through the bleakness however is some really sublime guitar work giving this track many winning dimensions.

The title track is an atmospheric intro that has become almost mandatory on albums this heavy, while remaining track ‘Vindicator’ is a slow builder but turns out to be another slab of the heavy stuff, but with an edgy bounce and soaring lead guitar that makes this E.P far from generic.
